We will not allow the use of geographic names at the second or any other levels in the applied-for gTLD. For our corporate partners and sponsors, we will duplicate this organization’s primary second level domain in conjunction with the proposed gTLD (e.g. www.nike.livestrong). According to the Registry Agreement, except to the extent that ICANN otherwise expressly authorizes in writing, the foundation will comply with the restrictions on registration of character strings set forth in Specification 5, including Country and Territory names. If doubt arises as to whether a string comprises a geographic name, the foundation may contact the applicable public authorities to seek advice and eventually reach an agreement before registering the domain name, if applicable.
