18(a) Describe the mission/purpose of your proposed gTLD

The .APP TLD is intended to benefit internet users by providing a designated namespace for such persons, entities and organizations to communicate in relation to software applications (“apps”). Registrants of .APP will be individuals and companies that create and develop apps on any platform. Nearly all app users are also Internet users, as most apps are most often available as an Internet download or through a web interface.

The goal of .APP is to provide registrants with a domain namespace that (a) is more descriptive of the function of offering apps, (b) increases the marketing and distribution opportunities of apps, (c) improves awareness to Internet users of the availability of apps, (d) provides better availability of domains dedicated to apps, and (e) is a trusted domain namespace with a consistent experience for Internet users.

The .APP TLD will be an Internet space, under control of the Company, to allow the distribution and exchange of information and entertainment relevant to apps, by means of, but not limited to, websites, social networks, email and other technologies that will reside within the .APP domain name space. In addition, ancillary services may be provided in relation to registration of domains within the TLD, including but not limited to website hosting, SEO, marketing and consulting services.

The Company intends for .APP names to be registered and used by persons and entities who are interested to communicate and otherwise provide goods, services and information related to apps. However, .APP domain registrations will not be restricted to such persons and entities – anyone can register a .APP domain name.
