15(b) Describe the process used for development of the IDN tables submitted, including consultations and sources used

Prototypical answer:

The submitted German IDN Table is consistent with the administrative requirements in the IANA IDN Practices Repository. The submitted German IDN Tables is consistent with other German IDN Tables in that repository and is not a newly developed table. A few options were available in selecting a table that would meet the needs of DVAG; for the German language. DVAG reviewed and compared these tables and also reviewed tables or IDN character lists not submitted to IANA, such as from DENIC.

DVAG used two criteria in selecting the table

(i) adherence with all IDN requirements, including the IDNA protocol and IDN Guidelines; and

(ii) the characters needed by DVAG. DVAG selected a German IDN Table with few character compared to other tables⁄lists, i.e. with a,b,…z; 0,…9; and ä, ö, ü. Other characters that could be used in the German languages, such as for example “ß” was not included because there is no need for this character in the planned DVAG domain name usage.
